Neo Progressive Rock emerged in the early 1980s as a modern reinterpretation of classic progressive rock principles, shaped by a new generation of artists responding to the post-punk and new wave era. Rather than rejecting progressive traditions, neo-prog musicians sought to refine and streamline them, reintroducing extended structures, thematic continuity, and expressive musicianship within a contemporary production context.
